Nappy Tip of the Month
The best tip I can offer you this month is about our new dri-liners. I have had many of you ring me over the last year trying to track these down and I assured you I was looking for them. Well, here they are! I remember my son sleeping for four hours one day and at the end of it, I could ring his nappy out it was so wet. But when I checked his skin, he was dry! He was wearing one of these as he always did. I can't rave about them enough! If you have a problem with nappy rash, wet nappies or not being able to use a cloth nappy at night - try the dri-liners.

Want to avoid Colic or even Mild Wind?
While breast feeding a newborn or colicky baby avoid any foods in the cabbage family such as broccoli, brussels, sprouts, turnips, radishes, kale, collards, cauliflower. Also avoid onions and garlic.  This is due to their high sulphur content which is gas producing.  Eggs also have a high sulphur content but generally don't cause too much trouble unless you have a very sensitive baby. Chocolate is a well known food to avoid in this instance as it tends to irritate the condition as do the legumes( lentils, navy beans, chick peas, kidney beans, lima beans, mung beans).  Not all babies are affected by all foods so start by eliminating all of the above for about two weeks then re-introduce them one at a time a test how your baby goes.  The ones that it reacts too are best avoided until the baby is at least 3-4 months old.  Other helpful hints are to drink chamomile and fennel tea 15 minute before feeding or chew fennel seeds, rather then long feeds try small, frequent feeds and nurse in a serene, comfortable environment.
